The first thing to keep in mind is this. The only difference between interviewing and selling is the product. In your case, the product is you. Consider your "promotional materials" - i.e. resume, cover letter. Sure they're informative...but are they interesting and engaging? Do they speak with your voice? And do they relate your experience to the position you're seeking? Next, consider your personal presentation. Does your voice match that of your resume? Are you confident, clear, and comfortable? Are you engaging the interviewer, connecting with him/her in a way that makes them comfortable with you, confident in your skills, and eager to know more?
The best sales pitches don't tell people to buy things. They explain why people want to buy things. The same goes for an interview. Take a look at your message, and your messaging, and determine if it says what it should, the way it should. If it doesn't, give me a call.
